At Kalgoorlie Primary School, music provides students with opportunities to express creativity, build confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Our music program supports students’ personal development and engagement while strengthening skills that connect to learning across the curriculum.
Music is taught by Ms Jacinta Henderson, who brings strong enthusiasm and a passion for student participation and performance. Through her teaching, students are encouraged to explore music in a supportive and inclusive environment, developing both individual skills and a strong sense of belonging.
A school choir has been established as part of the music program, providing students with opportunities to work collaboratively, build confidence, and experience the joy of performing together. Participation in choir supports teamwork, listening skills, and a sense of community, while allowing students to develop their voices and musical understanding.
Learning in music includes singing, rhythm, movement, and listening activities that support musical development while also enhancing concentration, memory, coordination, and emotional expression. Music education plays an important role in supporting students’ social skills, confidence, and overall engagement with school life.
Through music at Kalgoorlie Primary School, students are supported to build confidence, creativity, and resilience, while experiencing the enjoyment and personal growth that comes from making music together.
