Jordan’s inspiration for teaching came from his experience looking after his younger siblings. As the eldest of five, he often created games and activities for them, sparking his interest in working with children and leading him to pursue primary education.
Originally from Perth, Jordan brings a unique background to teaching, having worked as an electronics technician, in music production, and in hospitality management. He studied music production at TAFE, gaining skills in recording, sound engineering, and live music production. This diverse experience in technology, creativity, and customer service made him a natural fit for teaching digital technology at Kalgoorlie Primary School, his first full-time teaching role after several years of relief work.
Jordan’s skills in programming, social media, Photoshop, photography, and video production help him create a hands-on, engaging environment in his digital technology classes. He enjoys introducing students to these skills and finds it rewarding to see them gain confidence and excitement as they explore new areas of interest.
Now in his third year at KPS, Jordan feels a strong connection with the students across the school. After spending his first year getting to know everyone as a specialist teacher, he enjoys the sense of familiarity and community involvement that has deepened over time.
Known for his patience and thoroughness, Jordan takes time to understand each student’s needs and is committed to supporting their growth. He encourages quieter students to step out of their comfort zones, drawing from his own experience as a quieter student in school.
Outside of teaching, Jordan is passionate about music and fitness. He DJs at local events, sharing his love for music while introducing people to new sounds. He’s also active in sports, playing hockey and mixed netball after an injury prevented him from continuing with basketball.
One of Jordan’s favourite memories at KPS was teaching a pre-primary class one day a week last year. Although challenging, he found it incredibly rewarding to work with younger students and introduce them to a variety of subjects.
