Curriculum - English
Literacy daily reviews are used consistently across the school to ensure the students have opportunities for spaced, interleaved and retrieval practice.
In the Kindergarten year, we use PreLit as our early literacy preparation program, InitiaLit in our Pre-primary and Year 1 classes and then build upon this knowledge by implementing Letters and Sounds and Heggerty in Year 2. Words Their Way follows on in Years 3-6 to extend spelling and morphemic knowledge.
Core Knowledge Units, The Writing Revolution and Talk for Writing are used throughout the school to build students background knowledge, aid comprehension, and enrich students’ vocabulary during reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Literacy intervention is provided by implementing MiniLit Sage (Year 1-2) and MacqLit (Year 3-6).
