Meet Amber, originally from Newcastle, NSW, who relocated to Kalgoorlie 9 years ago for her fiancé’s work. Amber has wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember—she even played teacher with her mum as a little girl! After taking a few gap years to work in pharmacy and at the hospital, she returned to university and completed her teaching degree.
Amber has been teaching at KPS for 2.5 years, starting as the Indonesian and relief teacher before getting her own Year 1 class. She loves working with lower years (1-3) and has a passion for hands-on learning, especially during Discovery Time, where students explore play-based activities that align with classroom learning.
Amber particularly enjoys teaching Literacy and phonics, and seeing her students progress in reading and writing brings her the most joy. The funny and cute interactions with her students make each day special and fun.
With her bubbly personality, kind nature, and enthusiasm, Amber is a true asset to KPS. In her spare time, she enjoys planning her upcoming wedding and honeymoon, reading, and spending time with her fiancé and their dogs.
